Upcoming Fiber Art Events of 2025! Part Two

Image
Welcome to Part Two of upcoming fiber festivals for 2025. In Part One, the article went over the different fiber events taking place throughout the months of January and February. A disclaimer informed readers that this particular list was USA based only, went over a few of the more popular events, and was broken up into parts for time purposes.  Now we will look at the upcoming fiber events for the months of March and April. The same disclaimers apply here. I'd also like to mention that I do not earn anything by sharing these events with you. I took the time to compile this myself. So a "Thank you", would be appreciated in the comment section below.   Please Note, that some links provided to me, may be broken or appear suspicious. The Most Anticipated Knitting Events of 2025! Part One

Image
Let's take time to explore upcoming events for the year of 2025. While most knitters are introverts, who wish to cuddle on the couch with their project, socialization is necessary. I know it seems unfair, but that's the human experience we're forced into. On the bright side, some of the people on this planet are fiber enthusiasts. So follow me on a metaphorical journey, as we go through some upcoming knitting events.  A few disclaimers: I'm only featuring the USA events, because that's where I'm from. The vast majority of my readers also come from the USA. Therefore, it only makes sense for me to cover those events. Next, I'm only going to list a few events, because there's a lot going on throughout the year, and I can't cover it all. So if you don't see your favorite event listed, that's why. Finally, I'm going to break it up into parts. This is part One, which will cover January and February. Okay, ready? Here's what's happeni...

Would You Pay $300 For A Teddy Bear?

Image
Let’s talk about Jellycats. What are they, and why are they so popular? If you can believe it, the adorable bunny you are looking at has a price tag of $300 USD. As of the time I’m writing this article, it is available from the site known as Amazon. This bunny is a Jellycat. A Jellycat is a British toy and home decor company. They are really known for their collectible toys. And that’s all well and good, but what makes them worth $300?    According to multiple websites to which I researched for this article, Jellycats are made with high quality materials that are safe for babies, they have sturdy sewing, and high production standards. Okay, could that description have been more vague? What kind of materials? What kind of thread is used? What is the sewing method? What kind of testing has been done to back-up these claims? I’m being critical of this commercial brand because I too make toys, and I can tell you first hand what goes into making them.    Meet Louie...

How I Plan My Projects for 2025!

Image
My current WIP. This an alteration of the Becker throw by Norma Ndlovu.  Every year I like to plan out my fiber projects, and 2025 is no exception. Some might find this to be a daunting or tedious task, but it doesn't have to be. In fact, I dare say, it can be quite fun. The only things better than fiber art is thinking about fiber art. Browsing through the project pages of Ravelry, or scouring the internet for those beloved patterns. I don't want to brag, but I've stayed up past my bedtime many nights to search for those beautiful patterns. And what does it all come down to? A simple list. Without further ado, let's dive into the projects I'll be making for 2025!  Let's start the list with the knitting projects I'll be making. This first project is from one of my favorite knitwear designers. If been on this blog for a minute, chances are you've seen me mention the Dewdrop Fernlace Cardigan. A beautiful lace and cabled cardigan that is frustratingly ...

Are Subscription Box Services A Scam?

Image
I was watching a Youtube video last night where a lady paid for an entire year of a subscription box service. She described her experiences with the Crochet Society subscription box service, as disappointing to say the least. I want to make it clear, as a full disclaimer here, this article is not intended to shame any company that sells these subscription box services. This article is purely talking in terms of generality about subscription box services themselves. With that disclaimer out of the way, let's dive into it.  She goes on to explain how disappointed she was in both the service and quality of the boxes. She says that when she paid for her first month, a mistake by the company caused her to lose out on a free gift box that was supposed to be included for new members. When she reached out to the customer service, she was met with broken links and other issues that made it difficult to contact them. By the time she was able to get a response from the company, s...

Welcome to The Knitting Lamb Blog

Hello,  Welcome to The Knitting Lamb blog. This is my creative space to share all things fiber arts related. My patterns will be posted here, along with progress updates, fiber art news, hot takes and opinions, educational content, and any upcoming events, activities or projects. So grab yourself a cup of something hot and let's enjoy the world of fiber arts together!  About me: My name is Jessica Taylor. I go by Jalyna Rose as an author and pattern creator. I live in Texas on a small farm. My fiber arts journey began when I was a small child and learned to sew by hand. Around the age of nine, I learned to crochet. These skills taught to me by my mother. Although, she has since passed on, her memory is carried through the love of fiber arts that we both shared. My mother didn't sew or crochet a lot, but I do remember all the projects she had made for me. Particularly, the Barney pillow she embroidered when I was a baby. These things from my childhood now lost to time, re...
